The Elk Antler Log Cabin
Elk Viewing Sleigh/Carriage Ride, Gourmet Dinner & Wine Tasting "What is waiting for you is luxury, and gourmet food all cooked on two antique wood cook stoves by culinary artist, Jan Matthias. " The setting for your experience is Northern Michigan's charming back woods. You begin by boarding a horse drawn carriage or sleigh that will take you through the wooded resort and away from the daily hustle and bustle. A wooden bridge takes you over the Thunder Bay River and into the Elk Preserve. Here you will get an up close look at majestic bull elk, while remaining safely behind a protective enclosure. Bring your camera as you'll have ample opportunity to snap some pictures. Enjoy the scenery, the smell of pine, and the ever changing face of the Thunder Bay River as the horses make their way deep in the woods to the beautiful Elk Antler Log Cabin. This elegant cabin maintains its rustic appearance while providing every amenity. Warm yourself by the fire, enjoy something from the bar and savor the delicious aromas put forth by the twin antique wood cook stoves as culinary artist Jan Matthias and her staff prepare your gourmet meal. Throughout your dinner you will sample five to seven locally produced wines as attentive servers see to your every need. The meal starts with apple/pear crepes and jumbo shrimp and moves onto homemade chicken noodle soup. Course number three is a Sweet Napa Salad with a buttered croissant. Then on to the centerpiece of the dinner.. a perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth, Crown Roast of Pork and red skin potatoes.
