![]() Welcome! Everything we do here at the Thunder Bay Resort is aimed at making your retreat time memorable. Each retreat is special and unique in its own way. But one thing is consistant— from check in to the finish, 4 days and 3 nights later, you will meet new friends, draw the old friends around you and quilt to your hearts' content. We have scheduled your workshops, lecturers and teachers so that you have enough time to quilt— after all that is why you are here. The vendors will demonstrate what's new and will be available until the wee hours of the morning. A typical schedule is as follows: check in at noon; Welcome Reception from 6-8 p.m. with finger food and wine tasting. the 5 inch sq. swap (usually there is a theme); and a “Show and Tell” to break the ice and get to know each other. The next morning breakfast is from 7:30 - 9 a.m. during which time we draw some names for the prizes we award (everyone gets one!). Then it is time for class. Our classes are offered by national and regional instructors. Prior to the retreat you will receive a supply list for the class. Sometimes there is homework before the class and we will give you plenty of advance notice. Dinner on day two will be a delicious Pasta Buffet. On morning three, after you enjoy a hearty breakfast, it’s back to The Pine Cone Quarters (“Quilt Barn”) for more sewing. Some of our classes are two day classes so you will have more time with the instructors. For the one day classes, this gives you a day to complete your class project and work on projects you brought with you, and you are almost guaranteed to find a new project or two from the well stocked vendors or from fellow retreaters. Then in the late afternoon, it's time for the Elk Viewing, Carriage/Sleigh Ride, Gourmet Dinner and Wine Tasting Event. After this it's quilt time again. The next morning is the last breakfast and the final name will be drawn for the winner of our Grand Prize. We may also have a Trunk Show. We promise you one thing... you will never be bored. you are on your own for lunches but we provide everything else. We have our restaurant open for lunch if you want to eat out— So get away from your everyday life and come do what you want to do— create to your heart’s content. Let us fill your days with new products, new projects, and so much time you may get a couple of those UFO's done, as well as meet new friends and go to lectures.

ReviewsA few comments from our past retreat guests "The facilities and the meals were wonderful. This was my first retreat and I think other retreats will have a very difficult, if not impossible time meeting this standard. I will definitely be back for another Quilters Retreat at Thunder Bay Resort" Just wanted to let you know that I am still reliving the fun we had at the retreat with Amy Davidson. Your trunk show was awesome and inspiring. It is motivating me to touch fabric every day. Barbara S., Howell, Michigan |
